This photo again clearly shows "Garden House" the three storey quaker school which during my time in the village was the Newby family home. In 1980 I worked with Mick Newby rebuilding the wall plates and roof and it was obvious at that time the 3rd storey had been low cost flats housing 4 families in a tiny space. The small cottage connected to the side of the house was a ruin when I was a child but like the cottage on the other end has been rebuilt.
