Front Street - Wingate
Postcard photograph entitled Front Street, Wingate showing a road in the foreground, which continues away to the left, and branches to the right, behind a wall; on the left of the street, the fronts and sides of houses can be seen; on the right, also, the fronts of houses and, what may be a school, can be seen; indistinct figures are on the pavements and in the road; a horse-drawn cart is coming along the road
Date: 1900 - 1909
This appears to have been taken from Holcrofts corner, looking south. The school is indeed on the right, Boys and Girls separated, built if memory serves correct, in 1877. It was a Community Center in the 1970's on, until demolished and the present Center built. Holy Trinity Church would be to the left of the camera.
