Welfare Park, Old Pavilion - South Hetton
Photograph of a single-storey building with a veranda showing the side and front; indistinct children are playing in front of the building on the veranda and on what appears to be a rockery; a path is running across the front of the of the picture; the building has been identified as the Old Pavilion, Welfare Park, South Hetton
Date: 1950 - 1959
The rockery was constructed by Erie Sams who was the groundsman in the late 1940s and early 1950s. The pavillion had changing rooms at either end and a central room which was used, among other thing, to serve teas to cricketers in the interval between innings.
